In 2023, the Ecoclub “Green Progress” distinguished itself as a finalist in the prestigious “Niko Ketskhoveli Award 2023” competition, securing a place among the top ten outstanding projects nationwide.
“Green Progress” garnered the highest scores representing the Imereti region during the semi-final stage.
Throughout the year, within the scope of the project, students and their mentors were actively engaged in the identification and resolution of a variety of ecological challenges, alongside the meticulous planning and execution of diverse environmental initiatives.
Aligned with the subject “Business Skills” and in honor of Savings Week, students from grades III through VI diligently developed and presented entrepreneurial projects. As part of the activities, a quiz marathon focusing on savings principles and financial literacy was organized.
On November 17, under the auspices of the Department of Georgian Language and Literature, the eminent poet Tariel Kharkhelauri graced the Georgian-American International School Progress with his presence. Students eloquently recited selected poems and engaged the author in an insightful dialogue. The event also featured the premiere of a musical composition inspired by Kharkhelauri’s poetry.
The inaugural school championship of the strategic board game "Splendor" was held among students of grades VI-VIII at Progress School.
Teams of four competed in the preliminary rounds, with the most adept member from each team advancing to the finals.
The board game “Splendor” is renowned for fostering students’:
- Strategic and analytical thinking;
- Agility in decision-making processes;
- Meticulousness heightened attention to detail, and proficient time management;
- Adherence to structured rules, respect for regulations, and cultivation of organizational discipline.
In January 2024, the Progress Parents’ Association was officially established.
At the association’s inaugural assembly, parents had the opportunity to meet with the esteemed founder and general director of the Georgian-American International School Progress, Ms. Nina Chikvashvili, and the distinguished executive director, Ms. Natia Kiladze.
During the meeting, a comprehensive semester report on the school’s achievements and future strategic vision was presented, followed by discussions regarding the association’s forthcoming plans and initiatives.
Within the framework of the subject “Literacy”, a creative exhibition was held, where students showcased their handmade books, catalogs, and models. Participants passionately introduced their creations and shared personal interpretations and impressions of the literary works they explored. This event featured the enthusiastic involvement of students from V and VI grades.
The Personal Development Club successfully launched the project "Soft Skills Around Us". A total of forty students from grades VI, VII, and VIII took part in the initiative. The project featured an array of intellectually stimulating and entertaining activities:
A dynamic Kahoot marathon on Emotional Intelligence, with winners proudly receiving prizes from the school administration.
Students enthusiastically engaged in the simulation game "New Planet", where they collaboratively defined and defended fundamental human values.
Members of the Progress Law Club conducted peer-led sessions to disseminate critical knowledge on pivotal topics such as women’s rights, the prohibition of discrimination, and children’s rights.
The project targeted students from grades VI to VIII and sought to elevate awareness and encourage proactive citizenship among the young participants.
In the spirit of cultural exchange, the vibrant project “Georgian and Italian Dance and Music” was implemented. Students of the Georgian-American School Progress and their counterparts from the Italian Scientific School of Pisa exchanged fascinating information about their countries’ traditional dances, folk music, and musical instruments conducting the event in the German language.
The meeting was conducted virtually and orchestrated under the supervision of the German Language Department.
Further enriching the school’s environmental consciousness, Progress hosted a training series on tackling climate change and air pollution, facilitated by UNICEF and the Energy Training Center under the Georgian National Energy Supply Regulatory Commission.
The two-day sessions were attended by students from Progress and various public schools of Kutaisi.
Upon successful completion, participants were awarded certificates of merit.
The project’s overarching goal was to enhance awareness and stimulate active engagement of students and youth in promoting renewable energy solutions to address environmental challenges.
Sixth-grade students demonstrated remarkable technical prowess and undertook the digitization of three seminal Georgian literary works: Vazha-Pshavela’s short stories, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani’s fables, and a collection of Georgian folk tales.
Students also independently designed book covers and interior illustrations, utilizing platforms such as Google Docs, Google Lens, and typographical search tools, while adhering to copyright standards.
Finally, the traditional Entrepreneurship Festival was held at Progress, where students proudly exhibited handmade crafts and culinary products.
It is noteworthy that business education has been an integral and independent discipline at Progress for many years, with students acquiring entrepreneurial acumen, business insights, and economic literacy from the earliest stages of their academic journey.
City Conference in Biology — "Biology: A Multidisciplinary Discipline, Novelties, and Discoveries"
Given the boundless nature of biological sciences, our students delivered insightful presentations on an impressive array of diverse topics.
The conference was graced by the esteemed guest of honor, Associate Professor Magdana Jikia from Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University.
The event was thoughtfully organized by the accomplished biology teachers of Progress, Ms. Tamar Tcheishvili, Ms. Nino Toradze and Ms. Nino Usanova.
"Become a Progress Teacher" — Completion of the Third Stage
The third stage of the pioneering project "Become a Progress Teacher" was successfully concluded.
This innovative program, introduced at Progress three years ago, is designed to equip and empower graduates with the skills necessary to thrive within various educational environments.
During the third phase of the project, eight aspiring educators were meticulously selected through a rigorous interview process, with four participants completing the intensive course requirements.
- The curriculum for the program encompassed:
- Attendance at eight academic classes per week;
- Participation in specialized training modules;
- Delivery of a trial demonstration lesson as a practical capstone exercise.
Program participants gained invaluable real-world teaching experience, benefitted from personalized mentorship and recommendations from seasoned tutors, and were awarded certificates of successful internship completion alongside additional credentials.
Outstanding participants will be offered tangible opportunities for employment within the educational sector.
